The ROM is programmed with two pieces of software, The Vic 20 Dead Test with built-in optional, keyboard and audio/visual tests.
And a looped version of the combined PAL/NTSC diagnostic test, which has been modified to complete all tests and show the results as it runs, these can be selected with the switches.
 
- The ROM can also be used as a 8k game cartridge with eight 8k ROM images using a W27C512 EEPROM, 
- The ROM and RAM can be enabled or disabled independently, 
and configured for different amounts of RAM.
- The Diagnostics Test is designed to be used with a VIC 20 diagnostic harness.
- The dead test can be used by itself, to check memory locations, Kernal, character and basic versions.
