Lode Runner on the Amiga!

Released in 1989, the Amiga version of the legendary platform-puzzler Lode Runner brought a polished, 16-bit facelift to the 1983 classic. It retains the addictive "run-and-dig" gameplay while leveraging the Amiga’s superior hardware for more detailed sprites and smoother animations.

Core Gameplay

You play as a Galactic Commando tasked with infiltrating the Bungeling Empire’s underground vaults to recover stolen gold.

  • The Goal: Collect every gold chest on the screen to reveal a hidden ladder to the next level.

  • The Twist: You have no weapons. You can only dig temporary pits to trap the pursuing guards or to drop through floors to reach lower levels.

  • The Enemies: Guard AI is relentless; they will chase you, fall into your traps, and—if they happen to be carrying gold—you’ll have to trap them to get it back.

Key Features

  • 100 Levels: Includes the original challenging stages that require both quick reflexes and logical planning.

  • Level Editor: A robust built-in tool that allows players to design and save their own devious puzzles.

  • Classic Strategy: Success depends on mastering the timing of the "self-filling" holes; get the timing wrong, and you’ll find yourself entombed in the very floor you dug.

Whether you're dodging guards or accidentally burying yourself in a frantic mis-click, the Amiga port remains one of the most refined ways to experience this foundational piece of gaming history.
