Ivanhoe is a 1990 action-platformer developed by Ocean France and published by Ocean Software for the Commodore Amiga (and Atari ST).
The Premise: Based loosely on the medieval legend, you play as the heroic knight Sir Ivanhoe on a quest to rescue King Richard the Lionheart from captivity.
Gameplay: The game mixes side-scrolling, hack-and-slash platforming with duel-style boss fights. Players must battle through multi-stage environments—ranging from forests and ports to sailing a ship and riding a steed—using a sword and shield to fend off enemies before navigating a final castle maze.
Presentation: Visually, it is best remembered for its large, colorful, cartoon-style graphics (featuring artwork inspired by French comic traditions), though it received mixed reviews for its stiff animation and repetitive gameplay loop.
