Released by Demonware in 1989 and developed by Thunderbyte, Evil Garden is a top-down arcade-style action shooter for the Commodore Amiga.
Heavily inspired by classic coin-op fixed shooters like Centipede and Millipede—with a dash of Arkanoid-style power-ups—the game casts players as a mercenary tasked with clearing a hostile alien garden planet. Players must blast through waves of advancing centipedes, mutating mushrooms, spiders, and falling fleas.
Shooting special items like pumpkins awards upgraded weaponry, such as shielded turrets and bouncing projectiles, while dangerous pills can instantly trigger a swarm of new enemies. Featuring fast-moving sprites across a full PAL screen, simultaneous two-player support, and intense boss encounters against giant carnivorous plants, Evil Garden offers a familiar yet polished retro arcade challenge.
