A frequent issue we encounter with Commodore 64 systems is related to the RAM chips. The system contains eight chips that collectively provide the required 64K of RAM, and they are susceptible to malfunction.

We are now using these new replacement ram-modules in our test machines and proud to offer them as a replacement in your own computer. The advantage of this is a reliable, brand new and modern solution to keep your machine running smoothly. The module is easy to place and remove (if needed) but the work comes in from desoldering the original eight chips and placing sockets.
We can now provide a RAM replacement service specifically for C64 (Longboards, also known as Breadbin, but not for the 64C model). Another benefit to this board is that it fixes the VSP-bug for which some Commodore 64s seem to be afflicted. Allowing the ability for certain demos and games that take advantage of this DMA-delay. This makes this sram module a very reasonable upgrade or potential fix for a buggy Commodore 64..
We'll do all this:
- Perform a full diagnostic of the board before replaceing the ram. Any issues we might find will be reported back to you before work commences.
- Removal of all existing ram chips.- Remove the existing 40year+ ram chips,
- Prepare and clean the area,
- Install sockets and then fit the new high quality ram-module
- Full diagnostic test after work completed.

You'll get a 3 month warranty on the work carried out. Should your machine fail within 3 months use, We'll repair at our expense but the cost of any is carriage to be covered by you.

The costs for international shipping (in both directions) is very expensive, the shipping costs alone would likely be more than the actual cost the work and as such we offer this service to primarily UK customers.
