Life on Mars: Genesis for the Sega Mega Drive is a modern Metroidvania-style homebrew game developed for the classic console, featuring exploration, skill acquisition, and upgrades.
Players take on the role of a technician, Sam, sent to investigate a silent research base on Mars where a mysterious infection has mutated the colony's inhabitants and reprogrammed robot defenses, forcing Sam to uncover the truth and fight through mutated creatures and malfunctioning robots to escape.
The gameplay involves navigating large, interconnected areas, finding upgrades like double jump and new weapons (grenade launcher, flamethrower), and battling bosses to progress.
